To minimise disruption to classrooms, students should aim to arrive at school on time. If a student is late, Primary students should sign in at the Attendance/Primary Office, and Secondary students at the Secondary Office, before heading to their class and letting their teacher know they've signed in late.
If a student arrives late, parents will be notified and asked to provide a reason for the late arrival. Regular appointments require parents to apply for approval from the relevant Head of School.
For early departures, it’s best to schedule appointments outside school hours. If leaving early is necessary, please notify the school through the SEQTA App, email Absence or write a note in the your child's diary. Parents should be aware that early departures contribute a half day absence for semester reporting purposes. Once again, regular appointments require parents to apply for approval to the relevant Head of School.
We also appreciate your help in avoiding pick-ups during break times, as students are spread out across campus.
The following procedures should occur for early departures:
Notify the school of early departures as soon as possible, including the collection time. A written notice in the student's diary is also helpful. Emailed notes will be shared with the class teacher, but written notes should be presented to the teacher at the beginning of the school day by the student. Students need to be signed out at the Front Reception by a parent or caregiver and should sign back in at the Attendance/Primary Office if returning during the same day. If a person other than a parent or caregiver is signing a student out, please provide full details of the person you are authorising to collect your child/ren.
Secondary School students need a Leave Pass (available from the Secondary Office) or note for their teacher to leave class unless it's during break time. For last-minute departures, the Secondary Office will issue passes upon receiving parental notification by email. Students should advise the teacher at the beginning of the lesson that they have an appointment and will need to leave early. The Leave Pass or written note must be shown to the teacher for verification.
Years 7 to 10 students need to be picked up from Front Reception by an authorised adult; Years 11 and 12 can sign out on their own with written parental permission. Returning students should sign back in at the Secondary Office.
If your student attends an appointment and returns to school that day, the procedure that applies is identical to that for late arrival. Students who fail to comply with these guidelines will be treated as truants.
If a Pre-Kindergarten student is running late, please bring them to the Front Reception to sign in. Once signed in, a staff member will accompany the student to the Pre-Kindergarten classroom.
If leaving early is necessary, please notify the school through the SEQTA Engage App and write a note in your child's diary. Students need to be signed out of the Front Reception by a registered Parent or Caregiver and will be escorted to Reception by a staff member. If students are returning to school on the same day, they should sign back in at Front Reception and be escorted to class, as with the late-arrival procedure. If a person other than a parent or caregiver is signing a student out, please provide full written details of the person you are authorising to collect your child/children.
