We are proud to announce that St Columba Anglican School is an authorised IB World School, offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP) is a challenging, exciting and internationally recognised programme of study taken in Years 11 and 12. Through the study of the DP Core (Theory of Knowledge, The Extended Essay, and Creativity, Activity and Service) alongside six courses, students are explicitly taught to analyse and evaluate arguments and to interrogate evidence, preparing them to thrive in an ever-changing world.
Study in the DP will build upon our Deep Learning foundation, accelerating students’ learning as they develop the ability to use complex information to problem-solve global issues and local challenges. DP students are challenged to become active, creative and socially responsible contributors to their local communities. Further, the DP is outstanding preparation for university study as the challenge of Higher Level subjects, combined with the creation of an independent research study, builds the essential knowledge and skills for students to be successful in tertiary study.
Here at St Columba, it will provide additional opportunities for our students, who may choose to study the HSC in Year 11 and 12, or the IB Diploma Programme.
