Social Media Policy
Staying Connected Safely
Social media can be a fantastic way to stay connected with friends and family, learn new things, and explore your creativity. At SCAS, we believe in using technology safely and responsibly. This policy helps ensure everyone has a positive experience online.
Parents should be aware that all social media platforms have terms of use agreements restricting use to those 13 years of age or older. There are exceptions with School-Managed Accounts, such as the Google Apps for Education platform, where staff can ensure a secure platform where interaction is limited to internal use.
SCAS Approved Platforms:
We use secure platforms like SEQTA and Google Apps for Education to enhance learning and communication within the school community. Teachers and students can safely connect for school projects and assignments.
Respectful Communication:
Our school email system and approved platforms allow respectful communication with teachers and peers.Student-Teacher Connections:
Staff cannot “friend” or “follow” current students on personal social media platforms.
Being a Responsible Digital Citizen
Protecting Privacy:
Don't post photos or videos of others without their permission..Kindness Online:
Treat everyone online with respect and avoid negativity, bullying, or harassment.SCAS Reputation:
Remember not to post images of yourself or friends in SCAS uniform when using personal social media.Getting Permission:
If you want to create a social media account using the school name or logo, you must first get approval from the Head of School.
Consequences
We encourage everyone to follow these guidelines. If a policy violation occurs, we'll work with students to understand the importance of responsible online behaviour. Consequences may include reminders, temporary loss of privileges, or, in serious cases, involving parents and authorities.
Working Together
Working together can create a safe and positive online environment for everyone at SCAS.
