First Day for Year 7 2024
What to wear on your first day
Year 7 students are to wear their sports uniform on their first day, Monday 29 January 2024. Normal summer uniform will be required for the remainder of the first week. Parents are invited to join us for a welcome briefing from 8.50am in the Iona Theatre.
What to bring on your first day
Students need to bring their school books, textbooks and a pencil case. Students are also asked to bring their laptop device where possible. Lockers and locks will be allocated on the first day so that students can leave their books at school. Students who are moving up from our Year 6 cohort will be allocated new lockers for Year 7, however will be required to keep their current locks.
Students need to bring their own lunch, a snack for Short Break and a water bottle. The School Canteen will also be open for students to purchase food and drinks if they wish. Please remember to bring a hat.
What to expect on day one
Students arrive at school between 8.30am and 8.50am, and proceed to the Iona Theatre for a welcome briefing. Parents are invited to attend the briefing.
Long Break runs from 10.50am until 11.30am. Students can bring their own lunch, or purchase food and drinks from the Canteen. Short Break runs from 2.00pm until 2.20pm.
Students will meet their Peer Support Leaders, who will assist students in becoming familiar with the Secondary School layout and classrooms.
Students will receive information on technology at St Columba and connecting to the School’s network.
Timetables will be issued and explained.
The day will finish at 3.20pm.
The Year 7 Patron, Mrs Emily Barkway, will be located in an office in the Year 7 playground area and will oversee all student and parent concerns as they arise.
