Primary School Social Distancing
You may have read in the media that schools are being asked to put in place measures that will reduce the risk of close contact and social distancing where possible. We want to ensure that the core activities of learning can continue this term so the following activities and events have been adjusted to ensure that unnecessary visitors and large gatherings of students are minimised.
Large groups of students
Chapels and Assemblies are cancelled for the remainder of term. Unfortunately, this means that the Easter Hat Parade and Easter Services will not be held. There will be adjustments to the Public Speaking Competition Finals and Zeal Theatre performances to a year group only.
Private music tuition lessons
Please be advised that all private music tuition lessons will be proceeding as per usual. These lessons are one-on-one with the private tutor for 30 minutes. Please ensure your child washes their hands before and after the lesson.
Our students will not be attending the Netball NSW Schools Cup.
Visitors on campus
Parent Teacher Interviews: On-campus Parent Teacher Interviews have been cancelled. Staff are available by phone or email and parents are encouraged to connect with staff to confirm they will be available at their interview time slot if they wish to have a phone conversation. Interviews that are not pressing can be postponed until next term.
Parent Volunteers: As of Tuesday 17 March 2020, no parent volunteers will be allowed on site. This includes parent readers for Stage 1.
Student Pick Up: Parents collecting their children from the Canteen area are asked to limit the amount of time they are on the campus. Using Kiss and Drop is an option but in consideration of the impact on traffic we may consider an earlier finish time for Stage 1 in the coming weeks.
Event Spectators: Spectators will unfortunately not be able to attend our Cross Country Carnival or the Public Speaking Competition. Unfortunately, the Easter Hat Parade will not be held this year.
Whilst the current situation is not ideal, whilst we are able, the students will be able to attend school and participate in quality classroom learning activities. Please keep an eye on Explain SCAS for frequently asked questions and updates. Be assured that if there is a confirmed case of a student or staff member at St Columba you would be notified immediately as to the staged medical closure procedures.
