Arrival and Departure Procedures
Students should endeavour to arrive to school on time, as late entry into the classroom is disruptive for the flow of the lesson. Students in Primary School arriving late are required to sign in at the Attendance/Primary Office, while students in Secondary School are required to sign in at the Secondary Office. Students should then report directly to their current class and notify their class teacher that they have signed in as late.
It is the School's recommendation that appointments are not made for students within school hours. If this is unavoidable and a student is required to leave the school early or during the day for an appointment, they are required to have a written note or email sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. The following procedures should occur for early departures:
Parents should inform the School of any early departures as early as practicably possible via either a written note or an email to email@example.com, including the time that the student will be collected from the Front Office. Emailed notes will be delivered to the class teacher but written notes should be presented to the teacher at the beginning of the school day by the student.
When dismissed from class at the nominated time, Primary School students are required to report to the Front Office and be signed out by a parent or caregiver before leaving the School. If a person other than a parent or caregiver is signing a student out please provide full details of the person you are authorising to collect your child/ren.
If the student returns from an appointment before the end of the school day, he/she should report to the Attendance/Primary Office and sign back in before returning to class.
Secondary students are required to present a purple Leave Pass slip (available from the Secondary Office) or a written note to their Teacher before being able to leave class. If the departure time is during an allocated break time or in between lessons, this will not be required (the School cannot accept verbal permission).
For any last minute early departures these passes will be issued to students by the Secondary Office staff during the day and only upon receipt of notification from a parent or caregiver via email to firstname.lastname@example.org, the Parent Lounge or School App.
Students should advise the teacher at the beginning of the lesson that they have an appointment and will need to leave early. The Leave Pass or written note must be shown to the teacher for verification.
At the designated collection time, students in Years 7-10 will make their way to the Front Office, where a parent or caregiver will be required to meet them and sign them out. If a person other than a parent or caregiver is signing a student out please provide full details of the person you are authorising to collect your child/ren.
Students in Years 11 and 12 may sign out at the Secondary Office without a parent or caregiver, however written notification from a parent or caregiver via email to email@example.com, the Parent Lounge or School App is required.
If the student returns from an appointment before the end of the school day, he/she should report to the Secondary Office and sign back in before returning to class.
Return After a Partial Absence
If your student attends an appointment and returns to school that day, the procedure that applies is identical to that for late arrival. Students who fail to comply with these guidelines will be treated as truants.
